These terms of use govern the use of the mobile app "Ernterei" (the "app") and of the website ernterei.de (the "website"). The provider is Thomas Hobrecht, Oberer Hainberg 10, 37120 Bovenden, Germany (see Legal Notice). By registering an account you agree to these terms.
You can use the website without an account; it shows freely available knowledge articles and recipes. Sections 2 to 6 apply to the app only.
An account is required for personalised features. You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for all activity carried out through your account. The app is intended for your personal, non-commercial use.
You can delete your account yourself at any time (in the app under Profile → Delete account).
Minimum age. The app is intended for people aged 16 and over. Taking out a paid subscription requires that you are of legal age or have the consent of your parent or guardian.
Pro subscription. The extended features ("Pro") are available as a subscription with two terms: monthly or yearly. The applicable price is shown to you before purchase in the App Store or on Google Play, which is also where billing takes place. The subscription renews automatically for the chosen term unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Cancellation is possible only through the account settings of the respective store – we cannot carry it out for you.
Free welcome period. Every new account gets access to the Pro features for 30 days (for the recipe scan the limit stated in section 6 applies). No payment details are required for this, and it does not create a subscription: once the 30 days have passed, the basic features remain available to you free of charge as before, and no charge is made. Should a subscription in future begin with a free introductory period offered by the respective store, the store will inform you before the purchase of its duration and of the fact that it then converts into a paid subscription.
You can create your own content (journal entries, pantry items, recipes) and – if you actively choose to – publish posts, recipes and photos in the community. You alone are responsible for content you publish.
You retain the rights to your content. By publishing it you grant us the simple right to display that content within the app and make it accessible to other users. You warrant that you hold the necessary rights and do not infringe the rights of third parties.
This licence also covers the display of your content in designed image cards that you or other users can create for sharing, and in files produced on export.
It covers the app only: community content is not published on the website. The website shows our own, editorially selected content only.
Adopted recipes. If you publish a recipe in the community, other users may adopt it into their own collection. Doing so creates an independent copy in that user's account. From then on the copy belongs to them and remains in place even if you later delete your own recipe or your account. In that case we cannot remove it along with yours.
A zero-tolerance policy applies to objectionable content and abusive behaviour. The following are prohibited in particular:
We remove impermissible content and may warn, suspend or delete the accounts concerned. Reported content and users are reviewed promptly.
Every published post and recipe can be reported directly in the app. You can also block individual users – their content will then no longer be shown to you. These functions help us keep the community safe.

The recipe scan lets you have a photographed recipe read out automatically. The text recognition is automated and may be incomplete or incorrect – particularly with handwriting, unusual layouts or poorly legible sources.
Please always check the result and correct it before you use or publish the recipe. For quantities, times and ingredients – especially allergens and information on shelf life – the original source is authoritative, not the recognised result.
The feature is subject to a quota: currently 10 scans per month and no more than 5 scans per day, or 5 scans in total during a free trial period. We may adjust these limits where there is an objective reason to do so – for instance a substantial change in the cost of the service we use, or to prevent misuse. We will announce any change to your disadvantage in advance in an appropriate manner, and a billing period you have already paid for remains unaffected.
When scanning third-party sources, section 3 applies: you warrant that you hold the necessary rights. You may capture a recipe photographed from a cookbook for your own personal use. Recipes whose text was taken word for word from the source cannot be published in the community – they stay in your private collection. If you instead have the text rephrased during the scan, an own version is created; whether you may publish it is still governed by section 3. The photographed source itself is never published along with it.
The content of the app and the website is for general information only. It does not constitute foraging, identification or consumption advice and is not medical advice. With mushrooms and wild plants there is a risk of confusion with poisonous species – foraging and consumption are at your own risk.
The same applies to recipes and preserving: when canning, fermenting and smoking, cleanliness, temperature and time determine food safety. Canned meat, poultry and low-acid vegetables do not become sterile at 100 °C. Preparation, storage and consumption are at your own risk. Details in the Privacy Policy.
The app and the website are provided with the greatest possible care. No warranty is given as to the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of the content – in particular user-generated content. We are liable for damages as follows:
Claims under the German Product Liability Act remain unaffected.
We may amend these terms of use where this is necessary for legal or functional reasons. We will give notice of material changes in an appropriate manner.
